This is a practice test, not a validated psychometric assessment. The question formats are similar to those used in common employer aptitude tests. This is an independent practice test written by us, not an official test of any employer or test publisher and not affiliated with one. Scores are a count of correct answers, not an IQ score, and do not predict job performance.

How the free test works

  • 10 questions, 5-minute countdown. One question at a time; go back and change answers until you submit. At 0:00 your answers are submitted automatically.
  • Mixed question types, like the fast general-ability tests some employers use: word analogies and vocabulary, a short passage (true / false / cannot say), number series, a syllogism, an ordering puzzle, percentages, a data table and a figure series.
  • Instant result: your score out of 10, a breakdown by question type and difficulty, the time you used, and a review of every question with the correct answer and why.
  • Private: Your answers stay in your browser; only an anonymous score and time are sent so we can calculate percentiles.

About 30 seconds per question is a realistic pace for timed employer tests, so do not worry if it feels quick. If one question stalls you, move on and come back.

Questions

Is this test really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no email and no payment are needed to take it or to see your score and the explanations. The job-alert sign-up and the paid tests shown after your result are optional.

How is my score calculated?

It is the number of questions you answered correctly out of 10. Unanswered questions count as incorrect. There is no penalty for guessing.

Is this an IQ test? Do you show a percentile?

No. It is not an IQ test and there is no external norm group behind it. Once enough people have taken the warm-up, the result will also say what share of Remotely Scaled test-takers you scored higher than; that compares you only with other visitors and is counted from anonymous scores (no personal data). This is a practice test, not a validated psychometric assessment. Ten questions are also far too few for a reliable measure; use it as a quick check of the question types.

Are these the same questions as the paid tests?

No. These 10 questions were written only for this free test and do not appear in the paid tests. The paid tests are 20 questions each: cognitive ability in 10 minutes, numerical reasoning in 15 minutes, verbal reasoning in 10 minutes and the psychometric test (work style and behavioral assessment) in 10 minutes.

Is my data stored?

Your answers stay in your browser; only an anonymous score and time are sent so we can calculate percentiles. The anonymous score record holds only the test, your score, the number of questions, the time you took, the question-set version and the date; no name, email or IP address. The test sets no cookies. Your last score is kept in this browser's local storage so you can see it next time. See the privacy policy.

Will I get the same questions if I retake it?

Yes, the same 10 questions (with the answer options shuffled), so a second attempt mostly measures memory. For 20 new questions per topic, see the paid practice tests.
