The five work-style traits

Organization and follow-through
How much you like to plan, keep commitments and work in an orderly way.
Social energy
How much you get energy from talking, meeting people and working out loud.
Cooperation
How much you put the team first, seek to understand others and avoid conflict.
Composure under pressure
How calm and steady you feel when work is urgent, uncertain or critical.
Curiosity and openness to change
How much you enjoy new ideas, new tools and problems without an obvious answer.

Example psychometric test questions

Four example items in the style of work-style questionnaires: three statements to rate and one workplace situation. There are no right or wrong answers, so instead of an answer each one explains what it looks at. These are not part of the paid test.

Question 1

Statement: "I reply to messages as soon as they arrive, even when I am in the middle of focused work."

  1. Strongly disagree
  2. Disagree
  3. Neutral
  4. Agree
  5. Strongly agree
What this question looks at

No right or wrong answer. There is no right answer. Statements like this look at how you balance responsiveness and focus (in our test this feeds the organization and follow-through and social energy traits). In a remote team both habits have value; answer as you actually work.

Question 2

Statement: "I would rather receive a detailed brief than define a task myself."

  1. Strongly disagree
  2. Disagree
  3. Neutral
  4. Agree
  5. Strongly agree
What this question looks at

No right or wrong answer. This kind of statement looks at preference for structure versus open-ended work (organization and curiosity in our five traits). Neither end is better: some roles have clear processes, others are loosely defined.

Question 3

Situation: On Friday afternoon a client asks for a change that will take about two hours. Your weekend plans start in one hour. What would you most likely do?

  1. Do the change now and finish late.
  2. Tell the client you will do it first thing on Monday and confirm the new timing.
  3. Ask a colleague if they can take it.
  4. Check how urgent it is before deciding.
What this question looks at

No right or wrong answer. Situational questions show your usual approach rather than a single correct one. Employers who use them often compare your choice with the role (client-facing, deadline-driven, team-based). Pick what you would really do; trying to guess the "ideal" answer tends to give an inconsistent profile.

Question 4

Statement: "I enjoy presenting my work to people I have not met before."

  1. Strongly disagree
  2. Disagree
  3. Neutral
  4. Agree
  5. Strongly agree
What this question looks at

No right or wrong answer. This looks at social energy: how much you get energy from new people and speaking up. A lower score is not a weakness; it often goes with a preference for focused, written work that suits many remote roles.

Questions

How long is the psychometric test?

20 questions in 10 minutes. Most people need less time: answer with your first honest reaction rather than thinking each statement over. At 0:00 your answers are submitted automatically.

Are there right or wrong answers?

No. There is no best profile: different roles and teams suit different work styles. Answer as you usually are at work, not as you think an employer would like you to be.

What does my profile show?

Where your answers place you on each of five work-style traits (lower, middle or higher on our own 0 to 100 scale), with a plain-language description, plus the approach you chose in each workplace situation. It is based only on your own answers; it is not compared with other people.

Is this a personality or clinical test?

No. It asks about work preferences in the style of the Big Five model, but it has not been validated or normed and it says nothing about health or mental health. Use it for reflection and to get used to the format of work-style questionnaires.

Do I get the same questions each attempt?

Yes. The 20 questions stay the same, and your profile can shift a little between attempts. That is normal for self-report questionnaires.

Is this a real employer test?

No. The question formats are similar to those used in common employer aptitude tests. This is an independent practice test written by us, not an official test of any employer or test publisher and not affiliated with one. It has not been validated or normed, so treat your score as practice feedback only.

Do you show an IQ score or a percentile?

No. The cognitive, numerical and verbal tests show how many questions you answered correctly, a breakdown by question type and the time you used. The psychometric test shows a work-style profile instead of a score. There is no external norm group behind these tests, so we do not compare you with the general population. A comparison with other Remotely Scaled test-takers will be added once enough people have taken a test, and only then.

Are the questions copied from real tests?

No. Every question was written by us for these tests. We based them on the publicly described formats of common aptitude tests (question types and timing), not on any real test's questions.

What do I get when I buy?

Each test is 20 questions with a countdown timer (cognitive ability test 10 minutes, numerical reasoning test 15 minutes, verbal reasoning test 10 minutes, the psychometric test 10 minutes). You can take each test up to 3 times. After each attempt of the cognitive, numerical or verbal test you see your score, a breakdown by question type, and every question with the correct answer and a short explanation; the psychometric test gives you a work-style profile. Prices: $21 each for the cognitive, numerical and verbal tests, $29 for the psychometric test. All four together are $59 instead of $92 (you save $33).

How do I pay, and is it a subscription?

It is a one-time payment through a secure Stripe checkout, not a subscription. Prices show in euros if you are in the EU and in US dollars everywhere else. Stripe picks the checkout currency from your location, so it can differ from the one shown here. After paying you return to this site and can start right away.

Can I use my tests on another device?

Yes. After checkout we email a personal access link to the address you used. Open it on any device. If you lose it, enter your checkout email on the test page and we will send it again.

Is my data stored?

We store your purchase reference, the time you started your access, how many attempts you used and your answers for scoring. We do not store your name. Your checkout email is used by Stripe and to send your access link. See the privacy policy.

Can I practice a psychometric test?

You cannot study for right answers because there are none, but practice helps you get used to the format, the pace and answering consistently. The examples above and the full test do that.

What is the difference between a psychometric test and an aptitude test?

An aptitude test has right answers and measures reasoning (numerical, verbal, logical). A psychometric work-style questionnaire has no right answers and describes how you prefer to work. Employers often use both.
