Job Description
Motorola Solutions Applied Technology is seeking a forward-thinking, technically grounded Business Development & Field Innovation Manager to drive growth and market expansion across our Go-To-Market (GTM) portfolio. Unlike traditional sales or business development positions, this role bridges business strategy, hands-on field engagement, customer-led innovation, and cross-portfolio technology integration. You will focus on scaling field service engineering capabilities, establishing formal funded customer-facing training programs, leading tactical field demonstration events, and channeling frontline operational feedback into next-generation Internal Research & Development (IR&D) requirements.
In this role, you will work directly with defense and mission-critical end customers, field service representatives (FSRs), Business Development and product development engineering teams across Motorola Solutions and its family of companies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Field Service Engineering Expansion & Paid Experiments
Drive Paid Field Experiments: Develop strategies to convert pilot projects, trials, and tactical experiments into revenue-generating, customer-funded field evaluations.
FSR Team Collaboration: Partner closely with Field Service Representatives (FSRs) to identify new operational use cases, test environments, and field validation scenarios for mission-critical technology.
Operational Validation: Oversee field testing and validation of Motorola Applied Tech equipment in complex, contested, or harsh operational environments to prove real-world capability.
2. Technical Enablement & Training Development
Manufacturer Training Program: Establish, launch, and manage a standardized manufacturer training curriculum for end customers and technical operators across all Applied Tech GTM products.
Enablement Ecosystem: Build training pipelines that improve customer adoption, increase product proficiency, and generate recurring service/training revenue streams.
3. Sales Enablement & Strategic Field Events
Tactical Demonstrations: Lead, organize, and execute high-impact funded field events, live operational demonstrations, and customer capability exercises designed to accelerate sales pipelines.
Customer-Centric Innovation: Work alongside defense and government end users during field events to capture real-time operational pain points, feedback, and unfulfilled mission needs.
