About the role
Work Flexibility: Remote
As a Principal Architect, EDT Data & Analytics you will own the operational excellence, security, and reliability of the enterprise data & analytics platform on Azure. The role combines platform operations, DevOps automation, and Infrastructure as Code across the core stack - Azure Databricks, Synapse, ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Key Vault, and Unity Catalog - with a reliability-engineering mindset: automate everything repeatable, secure everything by default, and keep the platform highly available for global data engineering and analytics teams.
DevOps Pipeline Management & CI/CD
Design, implement, and operate Azure DevOps pipelines for CI/CD - automating build, test, and deployment across development, testing, and production environments with reliable, repeatable releases.
Maintain high service availability through effective workflow management, smooth promotion processes, and efficient pipeline operations.
Infrastructure as Code & Environment Provisioning
Implement and manage platform infrastructure as code using Terraform, ensuring consistent, repeatable provisioning and configuration across all environments.
Own environment provisioning end to end, workspaces, compute, storage, networking, and access, maintaining infrastructure integrity through automated IaC processes and drift detection.
Platform Security & Access Management
Manage platform security in collaboration with development and operations teams - RBAC, access control, and security controls across Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Azure SQL, ADLS Gen2, Key Vault, and Unity Catalog.
Implement and enforce Azure data service security best practices across the platform, including secrets management, identity integration, and least privilege access.
Platform Operations & Reliability Engineering
Operate the platform with an SRE mindset, monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, capacity management, and incident management with root-cause analysis and preventive automation.
Monitor and optimize integration runtimes and platform services for efficient data flow, troubleshooting and resolving runtime and pipeline issues to protect SLAs.
Data Engineering Operations
Partner with Data Platform and Data Product teams to design and operationalize scalable enterprise data solutions across pipelines, orchestration, and Databricks workloads.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with internal D&A team to understand data needs and priorities.
Vendor Management
Evaluate and manage relationships with external data and analytics vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
Minimum 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, data warehousing, data engineering, or enterprise data and analytics platforms.
Minimum 4 years of experience managing platform security and applying Azure data service security practices in enterprise environments.
Demonstrated hands-on architecture and engineering experience, with the ability to design and build enterprise data platforms, pipelines, and cloud solutions rather than solely providing governance, advisory, or oversight.
Experience with the Azure data stack, including Azure Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows/DLT), ADLS Gen2, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Key Vault, along with modern data engineering practices and Power BI.
Experience designing and managing Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, including automated build, testing, deployment, and promotion across multiple environments.
