Team/ Role Paragraph
As the Product Manager on our developer team, you will own the end-to-end vision, strategy, and execution of Coinbase’s next-generation payment experiences. Our mission is to bridge traditional commerce with Web3, enabling seamless checkout and funding experiences whether users pay via fiat (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay) or crypto (self-custodial wallets, Coinbase retail accounts, and stablecoins). You will drive the product roadmap for core offerings including our Payment Acceptance API, OAuth deep-linking integrations, and headless Onramp APIs. In this role, you will lead high-impact technical initiatives while collaborating closely with engineering, partner platforms, and payment service providers worldwide. You will play a pivotal role in expanding global merchant adoption and setting the benchmark for stablecoin and digital asset payments.
What you’ll do
Serve as End-to-End Product DRI: Drive the full product lifecycle for the Pay suite, overseeing both the merchant portal and checkout user experience (authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, and subscriptions).
Scale Core Payment Products: Expand and optimize the headless Onramp API, Coinbase OAuth retail funding flows, and merchant payment acceptance infrastructure to power frictionless fiat-to-crypto and stablecoin payments.
Manage Strategic & BD Partnerships: Collaborate with cross-chain infrastructure providers (e.g., Across, Relay) to enable seamless multi-asset routing (such as USDT to USDC) and drive integrations with major commerce and PSP platforms (e.g., PPRO, Checkout.com).
Bridge Fiat & Crypto Payment Rails: Architect unified checkout experiences that connect traditional payment rails (Apple Pay, Google Pay, debit/credit cards, bank transfers) with decentralized ecosystems, DeFi applications, and self-custodial wallets.
Required Skills and Experience
Proven Experience in Global Payments: 6+ years of technical product management experience with a deep understanding of payment service providers (PSPs), acquiring, authorization/settlement mechanics, and merchant acquiring ecosystems.
Global Regulatory & Licensing Acumen: Solid familiarity with cross-border payment regulations, fintech compliance, and international licensing frameworks across major regions such as the US, EU, and LatAm.
API & Developer Product Expertise: Demonstrated success designing, launching, and scaling developer-facing products, headless APIs, SDKs, and deep-link/OAuth integration frameworks.
Cross-Chain & Web3 Knowledge: Working understanding of crypto transactions, stablecoins, self-custodial wallets, and cross-chain bridge/liquidity protocols.
Executive Cross-Functional Leadership: Track record operating at an IC5 / Staff PM level, independently driving cross-functional roadmaps with engineering, business development, compliance, and tier-1 enterprise partners.
Position ID: P78984
Pay Transparency Notice: Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
