The short answer
About 8% of the remote roles we tracked on 4 Nov 2026 were open to people in Canada, at 74 companies. The companies with the most were Affirm, GitLab, Mercury, Allstate, Instacart, Grafana Labs. The live list is on our Canada remote jobs page, updated every day from each employer's own careers site.
What "remote" means here
A remote role still has a location rule. Most employers hire only where they have a legal entity or payroll partner. So a role "open to Canada" usually means you must live and be allowed to work there. Some Canadian roles are limited to certain provinces, so check the location line.
Who hires
Roles open to Canada were spread over 74 companies, but the top ten held 55% of them. That means a short list of employers is worth checking every week: Affirm, GitLab, Mercury, Allstate, Instacart, Grafana Labs, Samsara, Mozilla, Salesforce, Ramp.
32% of these roles were open in Canada only; the rest were also open in other regions, which often means a wider candidate pool.
Pay ranges
Only 74% of roles open to Canada showed a pay range, compared with 63% for US roles. US state laws push employers to publish ranges, and the EU Pay Transparency Directive (EU) 2023/970 is set to do the same across the EU. Until then, ask the recruiter for the range early, in local currency.

Canada specifics worth knowing
Canadian remote roles often name a province, such as Ontario or British Columbia, or a city such as Toronto or Vancouver. Some are open across Canada; some exclude Quebec or need French. Read the location line and the language requirements together.
Many roles open to Canada are also open in the US. That is good news for reach, but check the pay section carefully. US companies sometimes publish only a US-dollar range, and then set Canadian pay separately. Ask which currency and range apply to you.
Hours and time zones
Canada spans several time zones. A role "within Eastern or Central time" will not suit someone in Vancouver who wants to keep normal hours. Say your city and your available hours in the team's time zone.
Before you apply: a checklist
- Which provinces are eligible?
- Is French required or a plus?
- Is the range in CAD or USD?
- Are you hired by a Canadian entity or as a contractor?
- Is any travel to a US office expected, and do you have the documents for it?
How to use the region page
- Open the region page and pick a function. That alone usually cuts the list to something you can read in one sitting.
- Use the Seniority filter. Titles carry the level, so filtering by level saves time.
- Open the company page for any employer that appears often. It shows all their remote roles in one place.
- Click through to apply. Each role links to the employer's own careers site, which is the source of truth.
- Come back twice a week. Lists change every day as roles open and close.
Make your application easy to say yes to
- Top line: target role, city, country, work authorisation.
- Second line: hours you can overlap with the team.
- Three results from your recent work, with numbers you can explain.
- Languages, with an honest level.
Our guide to scheduling across time zones helps if your team is spread out.
How to apply
- Filter by region first. Use the region page, then the function filter, so you only read roles you can take.
- Say where you are. Put your city, country and work permit status on the top line of your CV.
- State your hours. Write the hours you can overlap with the team, for example "available 09:00 to 17:00 UK time".
- Apply on the employer's site. Every role on our site links to the company's own page.

FAQ
Are there remote jobs open to people in Canada?
Yes. On 4 Nov 2026, 74 of the 163 companies we track had at least one remote role open to Canada. See the live Canada remote jobs page.
Do US companies hire remotely in Canada?
Some do, usually through a local entity or an employer-of-record service, and only for roles they mark as open to that country. A posting that says "Remote, US" normally means you must live in the US.
Who handles tax and contracts?
That depends on how you are hired. We do not give tax advice; for your own case, speak to a qualified tax adviser (in Germany, a Steuerberater).
