What You'll Be Doing & Why It Matters
Salesforce is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the technical operation, reliability, and continued evolution of Marketing Cloud Engagement (MCE). This individual will partner with Marketing, Product, and Data to support MCE operations.
This is a hands-on technical operations and implementation role. You will co-own key MCE capabilities including Preference Center, Global Footer, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Data Extension management, DE audience and segmentation logic, and Mobile Push. You will translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, troubleshoot complex production issues, and improve the operating model for customer-facing messaging.
The role is ideal for an individual who is comfortable working at the intersection of marketing technology, data, automation, and production support.
Core Responsibilities & Scope
Build, configure, test, and maintain email and mobile messaging journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement.
Use Journey Builder and Automation Studio to implement customer journeys, triggered communications, scheduled automations, data imports, and operational workflows.
Write query plan optimized SQL queries with complicating joins
Design, manage, and troubleshoot Data Extensions, data models, SQL queries, audience tables, suppression logic, and automation dependencies.
Support Preference Center and subscription-management experiences, including consent, unsubscribe processing, compliance controls, localization, and subscriber-state troubleshooting.
Own and evolve Global Footer implementations and reusable messaging components across campaigns, regions, and communication types.
Support MCE Mobile Push campaigns, including audience targeting, segment qualification, exclusions, message configuration, send readiness, delivery monitoring, and event-week operational coverage.
Diagnose issues involving missing or stale source data, empty or incorrect audiences, duplicate-send risk, automation failures, journey entry and exit logic, and delayed or failed sends.
Validate audience counts, representative audience members, source-data freshness, exclusions, and send configuration before production launches.
Partner with Marketing and Product stakeholders to turn business requirements into technical solution documents, configuration plans, implementation steps, test cases, and operational runbooks.
Collaborate with upstream data owners, segmentation teams, mobile teams, and platform engineering teams to resolve dependencies and establish clear escalation paths.
Participate in incident response for MCE capabilities, including triage, investigation, stakeholder communication, escalation, resolution, and follow-up. Participate in a formal on-call rotation (e.g., PagerDuty) to support critical incident response, triage, and resolution outside of standard business hours.
