About the role
At Allstate, great things happen when our people work together to protect families and their belongings from life’s uncertainties. And for more than 90 years, our innovative drive has kept us a step ahead of our customers’ evolving needs. From advocating for seat belts, air bags and graduated driving laws, to being an industry leader in pricing sophistication, telematics, and, more recently, device and identity protection.
Exposure Response team and overall work scope
The team operates within a newly established Exposure Management function in the broader cybersecurity organization, focused on modernizing how the enterprise identifies, prioritizes, and mitigates security vulnerabilities shifting from traditional patch approaches to a more strategic focus on true business risk and exploitability
Exposure Response aligns more closely with security operations than traditional vulnerability scanning. The team evaluates newly disclosed CVEs, zero-days, KEVs, and critical exposures; determines enterprise impact; continuously refines scope; coordinates remediation; and drives events toward risk reduction.
The role: Senior hands-on technical operator responsible for protecting the enterprise from critical vulnerability and exposure risk. This role combines advanced technical investigation, threat-hunting and incident-response techniques, Incident Command, cross-functional coordination, and analyst development. When investigation identifies potential or active compromise, the Lead engages the appropriate SOC and Incident Response teams and provides the technical context needed to support their response
This isn't a traditional vulnerability scanning role. You'll work in situations where the answer may not yet be known, the scope may change as evidence emerges, and timely technical judgment matters.
Coverage & Working Model
We're hiring three Security Exposure Response Leads aligned to U.S. operating-day coverage: East, Central, and West
Each Lead will generally work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in their respective time zone, allowing active exposure events to transition from East to West as the operating day progresses.
Exposure Response operates as one team. Active investigations may be handed over from one coverage period to another so investigation, decision-making and remediation can continue without losing momentum.
The broader operation supports a 24/7/365 response model. The positions will participate in an on-call rotation, and critical events may occasionally require work beyond normal hours.
Key Accountabilities
Hands-On Exposure Investigation : Investigate newly disclosed CVEs, zero-days with unknown scope or impact, KEVs, actively exploited vulnerabilities, and critical exposures. Correlate security and technology data, test hypotheses, identify affected assets, and continuously refine scope and impact as new information becomes available.
Incident Command: Lead fast-moving exposure events and serve as Incident Commander when appropriate. Make timely decisions with incomplete information, establish priorities, coordinate parallel workstreams, continuously track actions and decisions, and refine scope, impact, and response as the event evolves.
Response Coordination and Escalation: Coordinate across technology and security teams to establish ownership, drive remediation, resolve blockers, maintain momentum, and escalate conditions that threaten timely risk reduction. Engage SOC and Incident Response when findings indicate potential or active compromise.
